Trust and verification
We separate useful Muslim travel leads from confirmed halal claims
Japan has many Muslim-friendly restaurants, hotels, prayer rooms, and tourism teams, but there is no single national halal accreditation database for travelers. Muslim Japan Guide therefore shows the source, last verified date, and confidence level instead of treating every listing as certified.
Halal certified / ハラル認証
A certification body or official certificate is recorded with a verification date. This is the strongest level, but visitors should still confirm current menu availability.
Self-declared halal / 店舗自己申告
The venue states that specific items are halal or halal-prepared, but third-party certification is not recorded. Ask staff about the exact dish before ordering.
Muslim-friendly / ムスリムフレンドリー
The venue may offer pork-free, alcohol-free, vegetarian, seafood, prayer, or ingredient-supportive options. This is not halal certification.
Unverified / 未確認
The place may be relevant to Muslim travelers, but current halal-related details are not confirmed. Treat it as a lead, not a recommendation.
What we record
Every high-value place should show a verification level, source type, source URL when available, and last verified date. If a field is missing, the listing should be treated as lower confidence until it is reviewed.
- Certification body
- Official venue website
- Owner claim
- Official tourism or DMO page
- Manual research
- OpenStreetMap or Google Maps lead
- Traveler or resident update
What travelers should still ask
Before ordering, ask specific questions instead of only asking “Halal?”
- Does this dish contain pork, pork broth, gelatin, or lard?
- Does this dish contain alcohol, mirin, sake, or wine?
- Is the meat halal certified, self-declared, or only pork-free?
- Are frying oil, grill, cookware, and storage shared with non-halal items?
- Is prayer space available now, and is wudu access available?
Correction loop
Venue owners, residents, travelers, tourism teams, and media partners can send corrections through the contact form. Updates are not automatically published as halal certification; they are reviewed and assigned the right trust level first.
